CUE THE WILLIE

I'm a huge Willie Nelson fan. Odd it may seem but he's a great old geezer and has written some of the best songs ever. Most don't know that he wrote the song "Crazy," as made famous by Patsy Cline.  He sold it to her for $19.  At least that was the story my dad told me. Here's my most very favorite. Makes me cry almost everytime.

Anyway, I'm currently in the process of packing my bags for a little visit to the Lone Star State. I've got some family stuff to take care of down there - I may write more about that later, or I may not, depending on how much I feel like sharing. Since I'm sort of a Texas native (first 2-3 years of my life), I figure it's ok to be open about how much I loathe the place.  Sure, it has it's good parts/people.  But my TX travels are never, shall I say...fun?  I'd rather stick a hot pitch fork in my eye. But it has to be done.  And so for the next several days, I will be channeling my East Texas roots (and for anyone that's ever been to East Texas, you know what I'm referring to) and adding another paragraph to the Texas chapter of my memoirs.

So cue up the Willie. Really.  And Kenny too.  Chesney, I mean, not Rogers.  Because I can't stand Kenny Rogers, although there was a time that I adored him.  And I still secretly love a few of his songs.  Ahhhh, Texas.  They got big long roads out there.

We are SOO there.

The other day, after a somewhat chaotic morning, I arrived at work and began the routine of checking emails and mapping out the day.  Much to my surprise, I found an email awaiting me from my cute 9-year-old daughter - who is new to the email world and typically only sends me an email in response to my random electronic notes of affection.  Since I had not written her one such note for several days, I wondered what cute thing her proactive effort would entail. Imagine my shock, and horror, when I read the following:

Subject:  nicness

Your not being very nice this morning. Love, Kennedy

Seriously?  Yes, seriously. I guess we have now reached that phase where the daughter feels the inherent desire to be rude to her mother. Don't worry though, I attempted to nip it in the bud by threatening her with email privileges if she used it to be mean to people, especially when it's her mom.  Unfortunately, she was sort of right so I couldn't lower the boom much farther.

WHY MY HUSBAND WILL NEVER RIDE MOTOCROSS AGAIN...

In his youth, my huz once was a mean motocross dude, among other things.  He's one of those fearless types...is naturally good at sports, has never broken a bone, and loves to do anything exciting or adrenaline inducing.  Normally, it gives me pleasure to see him engage in such activities - it makes him happy and I like him to be happy.

When Tosh went on his mission, his parents had to sell his Kawasaki 125 and all the associated products and gear. He was slightly heartbroken. To this day, he gets a little excited when he watches any type of motocross and we have always talked about getting bikes again someday - to ride in the mountains and stuff.  I've been totally supportive of the idea, as I myself have always liked motorcycles and had a desire to ride them myself - nothing crazy, just for fun.

As of today, however, I am making a solemn pledge that my husband will NEVER, EVER, EVER ride motocross again.  Not as long as he's married to me anyway.  Today I saw the most horrible accident ever, involving Jeremy Lusk, famous x-game motocross dude.  He's dead. He was 24.  He was doing a signature flip and pretty much snapped his neck. I made the mistake of watching the youtube video of the whole thing, which has now been removed from the internet, and I have been sick about it all day.

The point is, Tosh, I'm sorry, but motocross is officially now and forever out of your life for good. Frankly, I'm a little concerned about some of your other activities as well.... Special thanks to my in-laws for getting rid of that horrible husband killer so many years ago.
